Shinhan Touch Twin Marker

Here's the first test with Shinhan touch markers. First thoughts, great for the price but the Letraset Tria pens blend like a dream. These are more like Copics on the blending front. I need to give them a proper work out and get used to the tips. The fat end isn't just flat, kind of a rounded flat (if that makes sense) - the fine end is nice a tight though.

Above is a quick colour test using 4 colours - nice enough, but would have liked to blend the darks better, this may be my lack of skill with the different shaped chisel nib.

You blow!

It's been an age since I have done anything half decent in illustrator - I used to do vector work all the time but found working digital not conducive to pushing my drawing/painting skills. But on the way to and from work I kept thinking about 'Bubble Heads' - not sure why, but below is the pencil scamp that I put down when I got my pad out.

A quick search on the internet for a little guidance on creating convincing vector bubbles and the above is the result :-D No photoshop at all (well apart from cropping down the screenshot). Happy how he turned out.

Leo Tureaud - Flute player in Colonel Windpipes band

Mr Uberkraaft and the lovely Lesley Barnes have set about amassing the worlds greatest (and strangest) magical musical marching band. To see more of their great work click here.

But to add to fun they have opened up a flickr page and allowing invited scribblers to pen some band based doodles. I was made up when I received the call and got on to putting some ideas down this morning.

Above is my pencil scribble - blue and normal pencils - love 'em.

Here he is a little more worked up - trusty 0.3 pen and my cheapo Tesco sketch pad. After I'd inked him up I got out the marker pens and finished him off.

Before drawing my octopus I did a few others - here's the only one that I was happy with ;-)

The Big Collab

The other day I got a direct message from Mr Katari saying he liked my work and asking if I'd be interested in a collab. After pushing a few ideas around we decided we'd both go away and scribble up some characters and mash them up. The layout got slapped down By Mr K and shipped it's way over the ether to me - I printed out a cheeky A3 copy and spent some time this morning putting in the background.

After putting in the ink I had to rescan it (in 2 parts) and separated the background out in photoshop. Happy how it turned out :-D

Custom Kicks

Out shopping for some shorts yesterday and found these cheap trainers begging to be taken home and painted - so slapped some white acrylic on them last night and painted one this morning and finished 'em off a minute ago - now we just need the sun to some out again...
